This 9-inch dinner plate with a Thebes pattern was made by Onondaga Pottery Company, Syracuse, NY. The mark stamped on back indicates it is from 1937; the O.P. Co. denotes it is from Onondaga Pottery.
Green with non-metallic gold on a white plate. This plate is used, with some surface scratches, no chips or cracks, in a rare art nouveau Egyptian Revival design.
The pattern, first introduced in 1910, was known by various names when used by other companies: "Dorothy" by Meakin Co., "Cairo" by Mayer, and "Katy Ornaments" by Shenango Co. It is sometimes misidentified as "Egyptian Emblems." This pattern was used for many years on the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad and on the Rutland Railroad with the inclusion of its logo at the top or on the side.
