Surprisingly sexy navy linen pencil skirt

This navy linen pencil skirt is surprisingly sexy: the slit is a bit of a “show-off” (I wouldn’t wear this in an office setting unless it were casual Friday). I am planning to wear this on a trip to Ireland and will wear it in a variety of settings including in the city (maybe on dates!) and in market towns/villages. I have an hourglass shape with a 34” waist in JCrew jeans and shorts; I usually wear a 16 but this skirt is a bit snug across my waist (and reveals a bit of a belly). I’m thinking of wearing a button down shirt with or without a cardigan to hide my belly because otherwise the skirt is a knockout. I ordered a second one in an 18 just so I have the option of wearing it a different way. I never wear size 18 in bottoms/skirts so I guess this is just a snug fitting pencil style. It’s not too tight across my hips and I have big strong thighs. I love it! I’m 46, for ref.

This is just a gorgeous shade of cool lime, which pairs beautifully with periwinkle toned blues, light and dark. I normally/always wear a size 12 in Jcrew skirts like No. 3, No. 2 and really all pencil type, unless, there is elastic in the waist, then it’s a size 10 for me. But in the Pontè No. 3, or high-waisted styles, or closer fitting and unlined like this one is, I will take a size 14, so that it lays nicely both standing and seated. The fact that this is unlined is a bonus for me, because I can easily stitch the slit farther down and not have to rip out a lining to do so, then tack the end of my stitching with a dot of fabric glue like they did.

Love this skirt. Great fit. Perfect for now with summer tops. Looking forward to wearing it in the early fall with light weight sweaters and long sleeve blouses. I'm very tempted to get the navy!

I went to a function lately and my daughter drove in from out of town with her husband. After we were talking on the phone later, she said “oh, I really liked your outfit!” I must also add I had on my navy skirt and a navy and white polka dot top also a J Crew staple piece. Great feeling!
