BMC air filters are produced using a "Full Moulding" system that enables the characteristic red filter to be realized from a single mould with no welded joints thus avoiding easy breakage. The rubber used in BMC air filtering systems has a long life, is very durable and has optimum adhesion characteristics to all shapes of airboxes.
BMC filters are made of a multi-layered cotton gauze soaked with low viscosity oil covered with an epoxy coated alloy mesh to ensure protection from petrol fumes and oxidization due to air humidity.
All BMC air filters are pre-oiled, and they can be washed and regenerated by using the appropriate BMC regeneration kit.

Why Choose BMC - Organic Cotton Filters
BMC’s air filters allow the passage of a greater air flow. Foam filters cause less flow restriction but only offer filtration down to 80 microns. Consider that sand particles are 50 microns and you can see why organic cotton filters are the superior choice for engine reliability, being that they filter impurities from as small as 7 microns.
Generally speaking, vehicle such as automobiles or motorbikes require total particle filtration efficiency up to a minimum dimension of 10 micron, in order to avoid any risk of foreign bodies passing through large enough to damage the mechanical components downstream the intake system.
OEM air filters are made of paper, and their main function is to protect the engine.
These filters feature high resistance to the air flow which, consequently, reduces the pressure and the engine performance.

The BMC air filter is composed of a metallic mesh containing an oiled multilayer cotton filtration material. This guarantees a high level of filtering efficiency and a limited loss of air pressure. The oil used gives the material its “sticky” adhesive characteristic which aids in the retention of air impurities without compromising or blocking air flow penetration. This also creates a continuous filtering process. The cotton filtrating element is contained within an external support frame which interfaces with the air-box and allows it to be securely installed. Every stage of the production process, from design to manufacturing, is carried out in Italy by Italian engineers and uses the finest quality materials.
ECOLOGICAL AND ECONOMICAL
BMC air filters are made of cotton, a natural material which can be reused several times. The air filter can be washed with a special detergent then re-oiled, thereby saving the cost of changing the air filter each time the vehicle is serviced and thus reducing environmental waste.

BMC operates in a number of areas: automotive, racing, aerospace, nautical and industrial, and according to the specific regulations and requirements of each sector. Consequently, BMC air filter testing is rigorous and thorough thereby ensuring a higher quality in respect to paper, foam and plastic materials. The technical solutions used by BMC are derived from the results of a continuous and intense programme of laboratory testing. BMC carries out filtration tests in accordance with the international standards for filtering (ISO 5011). BMC Air Filters have a 98.5% filtering efficiency in respect to this standard.
Regenerating a BMC Filter
We recommend using original BMC kits only, as other products may not be effective or may damage the filter permanently, thus invalidating the warranty. The kit includes the special BMC detergent and an oil applicator (in the spray or dispenser version).
We recommend regenerating the filter (washing + oil application) every 12,000 – 15,000 miles to ensure best performance and long service life. This value is a rough estimate and can vary based on the climatic conditions and the ground on which the vehicle is used (sand, dirt roads, etc.). The various steps to be carried out in order to regenerate the filtering element are indicated in the instructions contained in the regeneration kit.
