Biographical Information.
Billy Bevan (born William Bevan Harris, 29 September 1887 – 26 November 1957) Born in South Africa in 1944, His family came to Australia when he was 4 and settled at Timboon. Later they moved to Bentleigh, Melbourne- where he attended Brighton Grammar and then Melbourne Institute of Technology, where he completed a sign writing course achieving Craftsman of the year and outstanding Apprenticeship award in 1962.
Bill’s paintings centre around Australian bird’s and wildlife and some of our old abandoned outback towns striving to capture their unique characteristics before they succumb to the ravishes of modern development.
His first solo exhibition was in 1968 in Melbourne and was followed by another 68 exhibitions across Australia and included London, Aspen & Colorado.
Bill is represented in regional galleries and private and corporate collections in Australia and overseas. And he is the winner of numerous awards !
