This beautiful antique photo album is clad in red/burgundy velvet with a silver metal "twist" clasp stamped "Pat. April 19 1881".  There is an ornate "title page" and then 21 double-sided, sturdy pages with gilded edges for photographs of varying sizes.  If photos are arranged back-to-back, there would be room for 84 photos.  Some of the pages have torn where the original photographs were removed.  There are five small pictures glued into the front inside cover of two children.  The album measures approximately 9" wide, 11" tall, and 2.5" deep.  There are four silver metal "feet" for the album to rest on a shelf.  The velvet itself is in excellent condition, with no rips, tears, or smells.
