Seeds for one of the planet's most ferocious chillies — a former world-record holder born from Ghost Chilli (Bhut Jolokia), Naga Morich and Trinidad Scorpion. Searing, lingering heat with a fruity-floral edge, for the most fearless growers.
The Story
The Naga Viper is a modern legend among chilli growers. Created in England by crossing three of the world's hottest peppers — the Ghost Chilli (Bhut Jolokia), Naga Morich and Trinidad Scorpion — it briefly held the Guinness World Record as the hottest chilli on Earth, measured at around 1.38 million Scoville Heat Units.
Its gnarled, wrinkled fruit ripen from green to a fierce glossy red. Beneath an almost overwhelming wall of heat sits the signature Capsicum chinense character: a bright, fruity-floral aroma that explains why superhot devotees prize these peppers for extreme hot sauces and chilli challenges alike.
As a hybrid of several superhots, plants grown from seed can show some natural variation in fruit shape and intensity — part of the fun for collectors. Grow it for the bragging rights, the spectacular plants, and a heat experience quite unlike anything from the supermarket shelf.
How Hot Is It?
The Naga Viper ranks among the very hottest chillies ever grown — hotter than the Ghost Chilli it descends from, and many hundreds of times fiercer than a jalapeño. The scale above is illustrative, not linear. Treat this pepper with genuine respect.

When to Sow in Australia
Superhots like the Naga Viper need a long, warm, frost-free season and are slow to germinate. Start seed early under cover for the best results, and transplant out only once nights are reliably warm. Use your local climate zone below as a guide.

Growing Guide
Sow seed 5–8 mm deep in moist seed-raising mix. Superhots are slow — allow 14–42 days to germinate at a steady 27–32°C. A heat mat makes a real difference to success.
Once seedlings have a couple of true leaves, move gently into individual pots. Keep them warm, brightly lit and evenly moist to build strong, stocky young plants.
After all frost has passed and nights are warm, harden off over a week, then plant out 40–50 cm apart in full sun and rich, free-draining soil — or into a large pot.
Feed regularly with a potassium-rich organic fertiliser to drive flowering and fruit. Stake the plant, keep watering consistent, and be patient through the long ripening period.
Pick from around 100–120+ days after transplanting, once fruit colour fully red for peak heat. Always wear gloves when harvesting and handling the fruit.
Healthy Plants
Soft clusters on tips and flower buds that can spread virus. Blast off with water, encourage ladybirds, or use a mild organic soap spray. Check leaf undersides regularly.
Tiny white flies that lift in clouds when disturbed, weakening plants and leaving sticky residue. Use yellow sticky traps and organic sprays, and keep plants well spaced.
A serious pest in many Australian regions. Use approved traps and exclusion netting, and dispose of any stung fruit promptly to break the breeding cycle.
A sunken dark patch at the base of the fruit, caused by uneven watering and calcium uptake. Keep soil moisture steady and mulch well — it is not a disease.
Pale, papery patches on exposed fruit during heatwaves. Encourage healthy leaf cover and use light shade cloth during extreme heat to protect the crop.
Seedlings collapse at the base in cold, wet conditions. Sow into warm fresh mix, avoid overwatering, and give trays good airflow and gentle warmth to prevent it.

Handle With Extreme Care
Naga Viper fruit are extraordinarily hot. The capsaicin oil can cause severe burning of skin, lips and eyes, and the fumes released while cutting, cooking or drying can irritate the eyes, nose and throat. Always wear gloves, avoid touching your face, work in a well-ventilated space, and wash hands, knives and surfaces thoroughly afterwards.
Consume only in tiny amounts and with caution. This pepper is not suitable for young children, and people who are pregnant or who have heart, stomach or other health conditions should be especially careful. If in doubt, seek medical advice.
This product is sold as seed for growing. You grow, harvest and consume the resulting chillies entirely at your own risk and discretion. Keep fruit, dried flakes and any home-made sauce well out of reach of children and pets.
