Up for sale here is a shirt from John Undercover, this one from the spring-summer 2015 collection. John Undercover is a sub-line of Jun Takahashi’s Undercover label. JUC, along with the ladies’ Sue Undercover label, are sort of between the main line collection and their “basics” line. Designs certainly are not basic and quality is in no way sacrificed, although some of the detailing may not be quite as crazy as the UC mainline. I would say the line is comparable to Julius MA and Julius: that is, maybe somewhat simplified design but in no way cheap or compromised.
The John
Undercover line started in the fall-winter 2013 collection, and I believe it is
no longer in production. JUC tends to emphasize a patchwork-style approach,
often layering fabrics with contrasting colors together. This shirt is a bit
less of the patchwork style, but still has some very cool details. There are
two main fabrics with this shirt: front is a solid navy blue with a pocket,
while the rear has a slightly darker shade and is done with a geometric print.
The label notes that part of the material is Tencel, which is essentially a
type of rayon. I believe that Tencel portion is the rear printed part of the
shirt.
These shirts
retailed at approx. $100 in Japan. I’m not sure of the line’s availability
outside of Japan, but since Undercover itself is not exactly readily available,
I would assume John was even less so. UC rarely reproduce their designs as
well, and this particular one is now long gone. Get it here at a fraction of
the retail.
Size is
labeled a 2 and fits like a standard medium. I measure the chest at 20”,
shoulders at 17”, and length at 26” from the base of the neck. The shirt comes
in lightly used, excellent shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
Shipping from
Japan to anywhere will be $24.
