It was manufactured between 1971-1977. It was meant to be a cheaper, consumer-friendly version of the Polaroid Land Camera Model 430. The original retail price in 1971 was USD $59.95.While the Model 430 had a timer, 3-element lenses and accessories, the Model 420 did not. Some features of the 420 include: 2-element, 44 mm. f/8.8 lens. Viewfinder/Rangefinder Lighten/Darken Control Flash add on (with General Electric Hi-Power flashcubes or equivalent) Electric Eye The original Polaroid 107/108 type film that the 420 originally took has been discontinued. In modern day, one could use Fujifilm FP-100c, FP-100b, or FP-3000b type film as a replacement, though these were discontinued in 2016. As of 2018, no film is being manufactured for this camera.
