The Irish Mail

by Edgar Hodges, 1969

The text above the picture reads:-

One of Britain's romantic trains, the "Irish Mail" has a daily run between London and Holyhead, Anglesey, taking passengers and mail to catch the boat which will take them across the Irish Sea to Dublin. Here we see the southbound train near Conway Castle, just one of the many interesting sights on the journey. Another of these sights is the Britannia tubular bridge, designed by Robert Stephenson and built as long ago as 1849, linking the Isle of Anglesey with the mainland.

This lovely picture is from the remains of a childrens book.
