This is a museum-grade reproduction of a New Map of Ireland Civil & Ecclesiastical' first published circa 1797. This very attractive map shows the civil and ecclesiastical divisions of Ireland 1797. There is much detail such as whether the parish has a Rectory, Vicarage or Chapel and also showing the ancient round towers peculiar to Ireland. The original map was laid on linen with slip case provided. An attractive cartouche at top right with sailing ship in harbour with a church and cherubs. The population of Ireland at this period has been estimated at around 4,500,000 and was rising rapidly.
