1957 Press Photo of US Coast Guard Reserves on Week end duty during Training. The Front of the reads at the top--Week End Sailors Learn Coast Guard Skills. The right side of the photo reads--Milwaukee's coast guard reserve unit trains with coast guard regulars, helping man radio and visual watch at the McKinley beach lifeboat station, boarding small craft for safety inspections and assisting with rescue work. This training is in addition to two weeks of summer training the reservists take at Great Lakes naval training station and night training sessions held throughout the year. Regular coastguard-man Irving Zuelke, 23 of 3549 S. Whitnall ave a boatswim's mate second class manned a 40 foot patrol craft with a group of reservists. The $59,000 craft has a top speed of 30 miles an hour and a cruising range of 190 miles
