Constantius 1 (250-306 AD) was a Roman emperor and father of Constantine the Great. He was part of a 4 man ruling body created by Diocletian. He held the title of Caesar from 293-305 and Caesar Augustus from 305-306. In 289 he lost his concubine, Helena, mother of Constantine and married Theodora, the step daughter of the emperor Maximian. In 293 he was adopted by Maximian and made his Caesar.
