In use and daily maintenance, we should pay attention to the following points to extend the service life of the steering machine:

1. When driving on the potholed and uneven road, slow down and reduce the load borne by the steering gear.

2. Frequently check the protective sleeves on both sides of the steering machine and the protective sleeves on the upper part of the steering machine connected with the universal cross. The damage of the sheath is the main factor that causes the early wear and damage of the steering gear. After the sheath is damaged, water and dust and sand will enter the steering gear through the damaged part, damaging the lubricating grease film of the gear rack, resulting in rust, abnormal wear and other phenomena inside the steering gear. If the internal water and sand are not disposed of immediately, the steering gear will be scrapped in a short time. Therefore, check the status of the dust-proof sheath at least once a month. If the sheath is damaged, it must be replaced immediately, and the steering machine shall be comprehensively inspected and maintained before replacement.

3. After the toe in is adjusted by four-wheel positioning and the steering rod is changed, pay special attention to the deformation and improper assembly of the protective sleeve, otherwise the protective sleeve will be damaged.

4. The lubricating grease will gradually become dirty and deteriorated during use, which will reduce the lubricating capacity; meanwhile, the materials under wear will gradually increase, and the wear phenomenon of abrasive particles will become more and more serious, which will aggravate the wear of steering gear. Every 100000 km or so, the steering gear shall be fully maintained, cleaned and re greased.

5. Due to the poor service conditions and heavy load, the steering gear must be equipped with special lubricating grease, which can not meet the use requirements.

6. The middle clearance of the steering wheel will gradually increase in use. If the left and right empty stroke of the steering wheel exceeds 15 degrees, the steering wheel must be inspected. If the abnormal wear of the gear rack is serious, the steering wheel assembly must be replaced. If there is no abnormal wear, but the clearance is too large, it can be adjusted. During the adjustment, it shall be carried out by trained professionals at the service station. After the adjustment, it shall be ensured that the steering wheel can be turned left and right to the limit position, with even force and flexible rotation.

7. Do not carry out the maintenance and repair of the steering machine at the roadside shop with simple equipment and low technical level. If the steering machine is not adjusted properly, it will cause jamming and endanger the driving and personal safety.
