These busts are from the estate of a collector who traveled the world collecting rarities and items of exceptional quality for her home. Now, it's your chance to own part of that incredible collection. Both pieces are vintage reproductions. This type of sculpture was produced from the late 19th to early 20th century. They were often created for well-heeled tourists visiting Europe who wanted to take a piece of the museum home with them without breaking the bank. Given the "Made In France" stamps on both busts, I would think these are closer to an early 20th century date. I do not know the characters/persons portrayed in the busts, but they are a striking couple. These reproductions were often museum quality. As you can see, the detail is quite intricate.

The busts are in very good plus (VG+) condition overall. They both show a few light marks and a bit of aging. The female bust shows just a touch more wear than the male. She has a small mark on the tip of her nose and a bit of staining on her left shoulder and left breast. There are no cracks in either bust. They are both pictured clearly from all sides. Please look closely at the photos. They are both signed "Clodion," with two "Made in France" stamps on the reverse and interior of both busts.

These are sure to be a conversation starter. They are perfect for display in any home or office space and are a true testament to the skill of the artist and an excellent homage to Claude Michel Clodion.
