From the flaps: Lilliput Heads for Moon in Junked U.S. Rocket read the headline in a New York paper... Once again the tiny Duchy of Grand Fenwick was confounding the world - and proving that the shortest route from here to there can sometimes be the most outrageously delightful one.
What diplomat could have imagined that a pair of bobolinks could alter the course of history... that a rocket could be successfully powered by a hogshead of iron filings plus... that when the United States gave the Duchy $50,000,000 outright to join the race to the moon, some of the money would actually be used for that purpose and not just for bathtubs and a birthday present for Her Grace Gloriana XIII?
It was all because Gloriana XII wanted and Imperial Russian Sable fur coat. Or perhaps it was because the Count of Mountjoy, prime minister of the Duchy, believed that "the time-honored techniques of indirection" were essential to statesmanship; or because Dr. Kokintz, one of the world's greatest physicists, was also a bird watcher. At any rate - it could only have happened in Grand Fenwick.
Condition: Binding - poor, reading copy only, lots of ex-library damage (tape marks, pocket, stamping, soiling, water staining, etc), text is readable, book is intact, no loose or missing pages. Dust Jacket - good, damage to lower front and rear of cover, some water staining, no tears and only slight edgewear and wrinkling, not price clipped.

A Note On Customs: When customs forms are required for a shipment, we fill them out honestly, stating that the contents are merchandise and giving the price you paid for the item (not including the shipping) as the value. Please do not ask us to do otherwise. Take any customs duty that you will have to pay into consideration before making your purchase. Please note that many countries have restrictions on the import of certain goods and sometimes on the maximum value that can be shipped to the country by various shipping methods. Priority Mail International insurance cannot be purchased for all countries and some limit the amount of insurance that can be purchased (default indemnity coverage seems to apply to all countries). Details on shipping conditions by country can be found on the United States Post Office web site. |
