Exceptional Rare FISHER'S Patent
Bevel - Disston & Morss – 1868
PAT. June 23, 1868
No. 79,062
Copy of patent included
Excellent example of a very rare and desirable
patented inclinometer / bevel. W. T. Fisher's June 23, 1868 patent.
Manufactured and marketed by Disston & Morss.
The patent as described: "Combining
within a single instrument several tools, namely, a bevel square, right angle
square, plumb and level."
It is well made and very attractive, combining
the beauty of rosewood, brass and steel. This example is 100% complete
and in perfect working order. There is no consequential damage of any
sort. The level vial is intact and original. The blade remains dead
straight but the markings are weak. It has been lightly cleaned to high
collector standards.
The brass has NOT been polished. The
Brass, Steel and Rosewood have all acquired that rich dark patina that one
would expect of a tool from the American ~Civil War era!! Among the
rarest and easily the most handsome bevel gauge out there, these fascinating
Fisher's Bevels seldom come on the market. Especially not in
this condition!
Don’t miss out on this one as you may be
waiting months or even years for another opportunity to add one to your
collection.
