From Yonezawa for MEGO Corp in 1968

KROME DOME ROBOT

Krome Dome Robot made by Yonezawa (Japan) and distributed by Mego (US) in 1968.

ULTRA RARE

A tin and plastic battery operated robot with an bump and go action. His body grows, you can stretch his arms, eyes light up and mouth opens and closes. To top it off, he makes a space sound. Originally Yonezawa made the robot with a different box and called him Martin The Martian. For Mego they changed the package and the name to Krome Dome.

The Deceased paid over $1500 for this item several years ago at a Comic-Con Convention.

One of the quirkier battery-operated robots of the late 1960s, Krome Dome was manufactured in Japan by Yonezawa and distributed in the U.S. by Mego. The toy was billed as "automatic growing action" - a robot that could walk forward, stop, stretch upward as its accordion body expanded, and wave its arms while producing lights, sounds, and opening-and-closing mouth action. Its colorful red, yellow, and blue design, topped with a saucer shaped chrome head and antenna, made it a standout among space-age robot toys of the era. See images for further condition details. A cult favorite in the robot-collecting world, Krome Dome captures the playful side of Japanese tin and plastic design during the golden age of battery-operated toys. A great chance to add a classic, personality-filled bot to your space toy lineup.

Domestic Shipping: Please note that USPS continues to raise their freight/shipping costs (UPS and FedEx too!) and base their pricing on DIMS (Dim weight is the amount of space a package occupies in relation to its actual weight. For each shipment, you are charged based on the dimensional weight or actual weight of the package—whichever is greater.). They also base it on Zones, or the distance away from the shipper that you are.

What Are USPS Zones?

USPS zones are frequently misunderstood as being defined by some geographical area. USPS zones are actually defined by the distance a package must travel from its point of origin. Therefore, USPS zones will be specific to the eBay business and its distance from you the buyer. Zones range from Zone 1 (a destination within 50 miles) to Zone 9 (a destination far away from the eBay business). As we ship to locations farther away from our business, in higher USPS zones, shipping costs will increase.

For quick reference, here are the criteria for USPS zones:

Local: Destinations within the same Post Office

Zone 1: Destinations within 50 miles (outside of the Post Office)

Zone 2: Destinations within 51-150 mile radius

Zone 3: Destinations within 151-300 mile radius

Zone 4: Destinations within 301-600 mile radius

Zone 5: Destinations within 601-1000 mile radius

Zone 6: Destinations within 1001-1400 mile radius

Zone 7: Destinations within 1401-1800 mile radius

Zone 8: Destinations within 1801 mile radius or farther

Zone 9: Destinations within freely associated states
