***Update!!!*** The unit for John has been identified!! 4th Battalion of the 31st Infantry Regiment. Working under the 196th Infantry Brigade in Vietnam in 1967!
I have not been able to identify the unit for these photos, but from the lot of photos I have they are of a John L. Sims, rank of corporal when at Ft. Benning, Georgia in 1966. In the lot of photos there is a Vietnam era sign from the "3rd Platoon, Company C" with the motto on it "May we, God helping us, be part of the answer, not part of the problem". On this sign below this quote there is what looks like a bear, possibly polar? bear, sitting on some kind of chair. Also on this sign are the infantry company c, 3rd platoon crossed rifles insignia, and the combat badge on the right. In one other photo it shows John wearing a helmet with a tiger or spotted leopard of some kind very large on the front, which may be part of the company's DUI.
Please note: One of the photos described above is NOT in this lot, but you may find it on my other listings.
In this listing there are four photos from the lot described below:
The main identifying photo of this lot is of John at Ft. Benning with corporal stripes. On the back it reads as follows: "16 July 66 Fort Benning, Georgia Pvt. John L. Sims Tell Juice to dig the stripes on my arm, if he don't know what kind they are, tell him they are corporal stripes, and ask him can he do that in 4 wks. of training (smile)"
The second shows John in a helmet with the leopard/tiger on the front and reads "front of helmet (over) Getting ready to go to bed (baggy eyes)"
A third is a photo, possibly of family
The last shows Johns in Vietnam with his dog tags on.
