Speak-n-Spell Breakout PCB w 8 Green LEDs, NPN driver & 3V3 Regulator

Exact drop-in experimental PCB replacement for new-style (2019+) Kahootz Speak-n-Spell. Identical shape fits inside with perfect alignment tabs and screw holes. Gives you easy access to screen and keyboard for you to interface your own MCU, rPi, Arduino, or ESP32/8266.

Breaks out LCD zebra connector and Membrane Keyboard contact connectors to Standard 0.1” (2.54mm) header pads.

Includes On-Board 8x Green 0603 SMT LEDs for LCD backlight, XC6202P332MR 3.3V SMT LDO Voltage Regulator and S8050 SMT NPN driver transistor. LED control pin can be PWM’d for lower duty cycle or driven with lower current, to dim backlight.

Pass-through of Batt + & - and Spkr + & -. Exposes on-board 3.3V reg output.

Includes PCB only w SMT parts: 8x LEDs, Voltage Regulator, Transistor, & resistors. See schematic picture.

LCD & Keyboard breaks out to through-hole header pads. Batt & Spkr component-side are top-only solder pads. 6 extra pads (VIN, GND, 3V3, LEDS_EN, SPK1 & SPK2) are through-hole, but must be soldered to TOP ONLY due to conflict underneath on most models.

Only compatible with Kahootz #09624 — NOT compatible with old 1980s TI models!
