Victorian Antique Primitive Piano Organ Stool, Glass Ball & Claw, A Merriam Co.
It has a great antique look to it. The item finish has not been modified from what I can tell. I believe the center support collar has been changed and currently does not move up and down properly. The seat itself has a little bit of wobble.
It needs a little bit of TLC obviously. It shouldn’t take much to get her back into action. However, I could easily be used as is, but I wouldn’t recommend it as a piano stool. I only say this, because you definitely have to have a proper height.
The round piece in the center underneath is a bit loose, but is friction fit into the hole. I believe this could have been an original part and it does a good job of stabilizing the shaft. It probably needs some glue.
I believe also, that this could easily be modified so that it could be raised by creating some kind of backstop underneath.
It looks great overall and has a very classic Victorian style to it. The cast-iron feet are in good shape and still have the original glass.
