Original issue, US Army Center of Military History Historical Publication, 748 pages, size is 7" x 10", hard cover, dated 8 November 1956.  This is not a commercial copy or print but an original issue government print originally published in 1957 and republished in 1991.  This is part of the US Army in World War II historical series (the "green" books).  This book is titled - CMH Publication 6-1, US Army in World War II, Mediterranean Theater of Operations, Northwest Africa: Seizing the Initiative in the West by George F. Howe (748 pages, tables, charts ,maps, illustrations (black and white photos) appendixes, bibliographical note, glossaries, index). The assault on North Africa on 8 November 1942 led to a bitter conflict that finally culminated in the defeat of the Axis forces in Tunisia seven months later.  The campaign was, for the US Army, a school in coalition warfare and an introduction to enemy tactics.  Contains 12 color maps in a packet attached to the inside of the back cover.
