MacLean, Alistair - The Guns of Navarone - Collins: London, 1957 - First Edition / First Printing - No statement of edition or mention of later printings present the copyright page as required in order to denote the first printing of the first edition.

In 1990 the British Crime Writers' Association placed The Guns of Navarone 89th on its list The Top 100 Crime Novels of All Time.

The book has some edge wear, spots of sunning, and a slight bow to the front boards but is still bright and presentable. The binding is square and firm and internally there is some offsetting and a set of penned initials but is otherwise clean. The dust jacket has some edge wear with shallow bites, a closed tear, and old tape mends on the back of the jacket. All together a still rather presentable book which is so prone to wear due to the poor quality of materials they used to bind it. The prolific and very successful author’s second book— the title for which he is most remembered today.  This title was adapted into the superb 1961 film of the same title which starred Gregory Peck, David Niven and Anthony Quinn. The film was nominated for seven Academy Awards (including best picture) and would end up winning one Oscar.
