Vintage M. Chave Aubagne, Santon De Provence 12” Terracotta Figurine, Vegetable Seller.

Santons are used to create a nativity scene with the key religious figurines of Joseph, Mary and Baby Jesus together with the people of the Provence region of France. Vegetable Sellers were quite a typical character in those nativities.

This figurine wears a colorful quilted skirt, a beige jacket, flowered shawl and maroon apron. On her head is a straw hat atop a lace cap. Her head, hands, and lower body are made of terracotta and she stands on a terracotta base.

In very good vintage condition, no chips, cracks or repairs. She is missing the canopy of her umbrella and there is a tiny amount of damage on her hat. Please see photos for details and feel free to ask questions.
