Coleman Lantern Check Valve & Stem - Large and small Tips. Read Listing.
We have both large and small tipped standard stems and check valves.
You need to let us know which you need.
These probably fit 90% of Coleman lanterns.
But you will need to determine if you need a small or large tipped stem.
This part is probably the most returned or mis-purchased item of all the Coleman parts.
If you are an expert, you know what you want.
For others....please read the rest.
If you are losing pressure and have isolated it to the pump assembly, we suggest the following:
Remove the pump plunger with leather cup.
With a pair of needle nose pliers, twist the stem a quarter turn to the left. You should feel it release.
Unscrew the stem the rest of the way and remove.
Look to see it the stem is damaged (threads stripped?). Or is it so gunked up, it could not function properly?
Hint: Unless previously removed and bent or the threads were stripped upon reinstallation, stems don't normally just go bad.
At this point, use a flashlight and see if you can determine how badly the check valve (still in the lantern) is in being coated with years or fuel, oil, etc. Is it corroded?
If you feel its the check valve, you can try to clean it with carb cleaner and flush it.
If its still the check valve in question, order both the stem and check valve.
You will need either a large screw driver or check valve removal tool. Without this tool, it is very hard to remove the check valve.
Most handy guys can figure it out. But keep in mind most destroy a check valve or two till they hone their skill without the right tool.
If you are in central Pennsylvania, or passing through the area, stop by. We can help.
If ordering, please let us know if you need the large or smaller tipped stem. Use the pictures to match up which tip size you need.
Shipping is USPS with tracking.
We have other parts listed and we do combine or refund excess shipping.
