Authentic WWI Austrian M17 Trench Knife – Grabendolch

This is a rare original M1917 Austrian Grabendolch, issued to soldiers in the trenches during World War I. The blade has been heavily sharpened and the crossguard has been ground flush with the wood handle on the blade side — a typical wartime modification for functionality and easier concealment.

The blade shows signs of oxidation, pitting, and wear, with a dark patina that adds historic character. The wooden handle is intact and firmly attached, showing natural age and use, with no loose parts or wobble.

Specifications:

• Total Length: approx. 12"

• Blade Length: approx. 7 1/4"

• Handle Length (to guard): approx. 4 3/4"

• Construction: One-piece tang with wood slab grips, metal guard

• Condition: Solid and structurally sound, with surface rust, sharpening marks, wear, and patina consistent with combat use

This knife was a personal sidearm used in close quarters combat during trench warfare and remains a classic collectible of Austro-Hungarian WWI militaria.
