BMW E30 Cabriolet/Convertible Battery Relocation Kit ***0 B&S CABLE*** (~240amp rated)
This kit is our best attempt (thus far) at relocating the battery from under the bonnet of the E30 Cabriolet, to the boot, in a similar location to that of the more traditional coupe/sedan cars. BMW Engineers themselves realised the Cabriolet required a large dampening weight in this location, so why they didn’t simply install a battery here is beyond me.
Please note: This kit uses a non-genuine cable holder/mounting system in the engine bay. We are currently developing a kit to include a GENUINE BMW cable bracket and cover, which will be available on our Ebay store in the coming months at an additional cost.
The benefit of this location and our kit is that it allows for a much larger battery to be installed, than what you can typically fit under the bonnet. In my car for example, I am running a 302mm x 174mm battery. This is significantly larger than what can be safely installed under the bonnet. The tray in this kit allows for even larger batteries (~175mm wide by ~320mm long) although this becomes a very tight fit. We strongly suggest taking real measurements of any battery you want to use and possibly test fit the battery in the tray with the tie down posts in position on a bench BEFORE installing the tray.
A printed copy of the installation instructions will be included with the kit.
DISCLAIMER:
"The Cable Shed" is not responsible for any damage caused to a vehicle or surrounding property should this kit be installed incorrectly or not be suitable for your vehicle. Please do your own research and make sure that the cable used suits your application. We highly recommend using terminal covers for positive battery terminals to avoid accidental arcing to chassis/earth points on the vehicle, as well as wrapping all cables (especially positive cables) with some form of protective tube, such as corrugated/split tube. This will further protect the cable from accidentally arcing causing a fire or damage to the vehicles electrical systems. We HIGHLY recommend the use of an anti-seize lubricant (Such as Tef-Gel) where any contact between surfaces of different materials will occur. For example, if mounting one of our stainless steel battery trays into an aluminium boat, any stainless surface that touches the bare aluminium should be coated with this lubricant, as well as the stainless steel mounting bolt threads.
