This is a BMW final drive 188mm medium size open differential to fit  ≤3.07 ratios (2.56, 2.65, 2.79, 2.93, 3.07 etc.)

Fits in e23, e28, e30, e32, e34, e36, e36/5, z3 cases. 

Doesn't fits in e38, e39, e46, e60, e90 cases
