This kit repairs one (1) headlight left or right side. If you need to repair both headlights, then please select a quantity of two (2) items.

Fits:

2000-2004 C5 Corvette

1997-1999 C5 Corvette (may not be as much of an issue with these model years)

This kit includes the following items:

2- OEM quality bump-stop insulators (#4 in diagram).

3- Specially designed plastic washers (#2 in diagram) that perfectly fit the headlight motor housing for a seamless installation.

1- Hard copy of TSB #00-08-42-002 with instructions.

This kit is the fix for a headlight that closes and then partially opens up again. General Motors issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB# 00-08-42-002) for this issue which is most common on the left/driver side, but I have seen this happen on both sides.

The issue is that the motor to headlight linkage arm does not properly align with the stops on the base of the headlight and after many cycles this will wear down the bump stop insulator which causes the linkage arm to slide past the stop. This overextends the linkages and partially raises the headlight. Now the linkages are over extended, so when you turn on the headlight switch the headlight drops and then raises again to the full-open position.

The bump stop insulators are made from the same material as the OEM originals. Some others being sold on the market are made of brittle plastic that deteriorates very quickly.

I also have a batch of the plastic washers in white instead of black. The black matches the plastic housing on the motors very well so if you ever need to remove the motor for service you may forget that they are there and loose them into the obis. The white washers are much more clearly visible when installed. If you prefer white just send me a message after your purchase or include a note at checkout.
