An Interesting little Czech Tank that served everywhere BUT Czechoslovakia ?
This kit has Roumanian markings
The Praga -R, designated R-1 by the Romanian Army, was a light tankette developed by Czechoslovakia and exported to several countries, including Romania, Sweden, Iran, and Ethiopia. Romania ordered 35 units in 1936, and all were manufactured by the end of 1937. The vehicle served primarily in reconnaissance roles within the Romanian military. It had a crew of two, weighed 3.9 tonnes, and measured 3.2 meters in length, 1.81 meters in width, and 1.68 meters in height. The armor thickness ranged from 5 to 12 mm, and it was powered by a 60 horsepower (44.1 kW) Praga GOH gasoline engine, enabling a maximum speed of 45 km/h and a range of 170 km.
The R-1 was armed with two 7.92 mm machine guns: a ZB vz. 35 heavy machine gun and a ZB vz. 30 machine gun, with a total ammunition supply of 3,700 rounds. It was capable of penetrating a 300 mm thick brick wall and felling a tree with a 250 mm diameter. The vehicle participated in the Axis invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941 and 1942, with 14 returning to Romania by 1943 after the campaign.
In 1944, the Romanian High Command planned to upgrade the remaining R-1s by replacing their armament with a 45 mm Soviet captured gun, redesignating them as TACAM R-1; however, due to Romania's switch to the Allied side and the collapse of its front, this conversion was not completed. Some surviving vehicles were used in combat even after Romania changed sides.
