Vintage Souvenir Program

Up for auction is a vintage souvenir program book, measuring approximately 8.25 by 10.75 inches in size.  The fifty-two page Souvenir Program is for the Second Annual International Dramatic Arts Festival, running from May through July, 1955, in Paris, France, and is entirely in French.  Included in the souvenir program are numerous congratulatory letters from a number of countries around the world; a complete program of all of the plays being presented during the course of the Festival; along with marvelous advertisements.  The souvenir program for the Festival itself has its original glassine protective wrapper. 

One of the two submissions to the Festival by the United States of America was "The Skin of Our Teeth", playing for six days only, from June 30 through July 3, at the Sarah Bernhardt Theatre, in Paris.  The play featured Helen Hayes, Mary Martin, George Abbott and Florence Reed.    Included in this lot is the 12 page program for "The Skin of Our Teeth", by Thornton Wilder.  Also included is a two-sided single sheet that has information about the show.  Finally, this lot will also include a four page list of donors, who made this "Salut a la France" possible.   

The four pieces in this lot are in great, vintage condition, with no missing or torn pages, no writing on any of the pages (with one exception of two corrections made to a letter from the Austrian Ambassador to France), and minimal soiling and wear.  The glassine wrappers are intact, with only one  tiny tear at the top of the spine.  The only other noticeable wear to any of the pieces, is to the outside edge of the last page of the Donor List, where there is some very minor chipping to the paper.
