For other DIN rail power supplies (15W to 960W) see HDR range, NDR range, XDR range and SDR/TDR/WDR ranges.
NEW! For low cost metal DIN rail power supplies (75W to 960W) with 36V output, more 12V (up to 15V) options and paralleling capability see - XDR Series. For video on XDR-E range... click here.
The MDR series is a SLIM version with plastic case and constant current limiting output (not hiccup). All units are "green" with low no-load power consumption and good efficiency... up to 30% less heat generated and improved temperature operation than the old DR series. The MDR-100 also provides Over Temperature Protection (OTP) and "active" Power Factor Correction (PFC)+. The 20W series has a solid-state DC OK output which activates when DC voltage is detected at the output terminals. The 40W, 60W and 100W series have a relay contact output capable of switching 30V@1A which activates when the power supply is operating.
The Meanwell MDR 20W, 40W, 60W and 100W units come in 5V (up to 60W), 12V, 15V (20W only), 24V or 48V (not 20W) and are only 22.5mm, 40mm, 40mm, 55mm width respectively. They have constant current limit on overload with automatic recovery. Also all units have over voltage protection (OVP) and ONLY the 100W unit has over temperature protection (OTP). All power supplies operate from 100 to 240VAC input. The 20W unit allows -10% to +10% voltage adjustment. The others are adjustable from 0% to +25% (6V, 13.8V, 15V, 27.6V, 30V and 55.2V can be provided). They fit a standard DIN TS35/7.5 or TS35/15 railing and come with a 3 year Australian warranty.20W Series*
The MDR-20-5 = 5V@3A (5 x 3 = 15W), MDR-20-12 = 12V@1.67A, MDR-20-15 = 15V@1.34A and the NDR-20-24 = 24V@1A (24 x 1 = 24W).
Weight 0.17kg, size 22.5x90x100mm.
40W Series
The MDR-40-5 = 5V@6A (5 x 6 = 30W), MDR-40-12 = 12V@3.33A, MDR-40-24 = 24V@1.7A and the MDR-40-48 = 48V@0.83A.
Weight 0.3kg, size 40x90x100mm.
60W Series
The MDR-60-5 = 5V@10A (5 x 10 = 50W), MDR-60-12 = 12V@5A, MDR-60-24 = 24V@2.5A and the MDR-60-48 = 48V@1.25A.
Weight 0.33kg, size 40x90x100mm.
100W Series
The MDR-100-12 = 12V@7.5A (12 X 7.5 = 90W), MDR-100-24 = 24V@4A and the MDR-100-48 = 48V@2A.
Weight 0.42kg, size 55x90x100mm. To replace a MDR-100-15 = 15V@6.7A, buy the MDR-100-12 and adjust the voltage to 15V.
*the 10W Series = MDR-10-5, MDR-10-12, MDR-10-15, MDR-10-24 can be supplied for the same price as the 20W, however it does NOT have adjustable voltage or constant-current limited operation! We recommend using the 20W version... it's the SAME SIZE anyway!
All Meanwell products have a 2 to 7 year warranty. MEAN WELL Enterprises Co., is a Taiwan based company started in 1982 with strong ties worldwide (some well-known companies re-badge their products) and they provide excellent support and backup. Meanwell is a TQM (Total Quality Management) company and is ISO9001 certified. In 2017, the 2-year return rate was 1 in 6600. Meanwell power supplies are extremely reliable in our experience with only one unit DOA (Dead On Arrival) that was replaced and three returned during the warranty period in the 15+ years we have been selling... one power supply had been installed in a control box outdoors (for advertising) and had been attacked by a nest of ants! Meanwell now offers a range of fully sealed units (IP65 and IP67 rated)... please ask us for advice for outdoor and hazardous environments. For a company video - click here.
Some "on-the-web" comments... 1. "I have hundreds of 600 Watt 24V Meanwells running in the field and probably another 100+ 350Watt 5V running in the field and they are the most reliable piece of equipment compared to everything else. I've -never- replaced one in over 11 years, but I have replaced a lot of cruddy circuit boards designed or assembled by the less technically inclined (companies).", 2. "But in the end I've learnt a lesson here and that is spend the extra cash and buy some quality power supplies like the meanwell brand or else you could be in for a very frustrating time but I don't have the budget for that this year so I'll have to deal with what I have (sad face)". 3. Need a decent power supply... I can recommend mean well supplies. They are low end industrial supplies but are good quality, much better than no-name chinese supplies you can get from ebay etc.. I use mean well in lots of equipment and have had very few failures in thousands of hours of run time.
We also provide a download (or CDROM on request) with the documentation in PDF format and other information on Meanwell products.
All goods sold in Australia include GST, a tax invoice is provided.
EXPRESS DELIVERY INCLUDED.
A re-written user manual is provided (also in PDF format on CD-ROM) because we care that all products that we sell have clear and easily readable information and instructions with adequate warnings about any dangers or precautions that need to be taken!
Beware of "fakes" and "look-a-likes" (with logos of "MWKJ", "M&W", "MiWi", "WH", "MN", "MIEG WAEI", "NWJS" for example) these are often cheap, low quality products that do not meet the safety requirements for use in Australia. Also beware of purchasing products from overseas as an Australian Warranty will not be provided. This unit has exposed 240VAC terminals and must be installed inside a suitable enclosure according to local electrical authority regulations. +NOTE, any power supply above 150W that does not have POWER FACTOR CORRECTION most-likely does not meet C-TICK or EMI requirements for use, on 240VAC mains in Australia! You can generally tell if a high-wattage (> 150W) power supply does NOT have "active" PFC because it will have a switch to select 115VAC or 230VAC. The advantage of "active" PFC is that not only is the AC mains current reduced (and of course "in phase" with voltage... something that power companies prefer), but the electrical interference (EMI) is reduced (less harmonics) BUT also it stablises the input allowing the AC voltage to vary greatly WITHOUT having to use a SWITCH which activates voltage doubling when the AC input is less than 180VAC.
