The Cubs topped the Dodgers by a score of 5-4.   

Don Newcombe got knocked around on the mound by the Cubbies, giving up five runs and taking the loss.  Dodgers manager Walt Alston kept Newcombe in the game for all eight innings though.  Maybe for his hitting prowess?   Newcombe did have two hits in the game including a double.
