Strong and reasonably light 650b mountain bike wheelset for XC and trail riding with wider tyres. Highly adaptable with different hub and spoke options to suit different riding styles.  

Rims are the new Ryde Trace Trail 25 made from aluminium alloy. 28mm wide external and 25mm wide internal. Disc brake specific. Suitable for tyre sizes between 2.1" and 2,5". The optimum size according to Ryde is 2.25". These rims are designed to be used tubeless (with Stans sealant) but can also be use with Presta valve tubes.

The Trace rim family is a high-end product from Ryde in Holland and features an asymetric spoke hole pattern. This allows the spoke angles and tensions to be more even between the brake side and drive side of the wheels - make a stronger and more stable wheel but at a really light weight. See pics 3 and 4 to see the even angle on the spokes.

The manufacturer recommends a maximum rider weight of 100kg. 

Hubs as shown are the stronger, mid-weight Novatec D881SB and D882SB models. MTB standard 100mm wide front hub and 135mm wide rear hub. Suitable for 9,10 and 11 speed Shimano pattern cassettes and 9/10 speed SRAM. These are lightweight hubs with high quality sealed bearings. Disc brake attachment is by the international standard 6 bolt fixing.

The freewheel is also made of alloy which is great for weightsaving. There are freehub options a stronger steel freehub, 11 speed Shimano alloy freehub and SRAM XD (XX1/X01 type).

The wheels come are pictured with lightweight QR skewers but there are options for 15mm and 20mm bolt thru front fixings and 12 x142 rear - see below.

As standard, the 32 spokes per wheel are the light and very high quality silver Sapim Race double butted spokes. Made from 100% stainless steel and fastened with Sapim 12mm brass nipples for strength. The photos show a pair of wheels built using the optional black Race spokes.

The wheels are built using a 3x (3 cross) pattern which is the best compromise between strength without excess weight.

This wheelset weighs around 1800g which is around 160g lighter than a set of Stans Flow Ex wheels using the same hubs/spokes). 

Hub options:

Front:

D882 mid-weight hub with choice of 20mm, 15mm and QR end caps.

Rear:

D882 mid-weight hub with either QR or 12x142 axle and either Shimano 11 speed alloy or Shimano 10/11 speed steel freehub. Also SRAM XD freehub a same cost.
