The ‘Roman de la Rose’ is a famous 13^th-century Medieval French poem written as an allegorical dream sequence. It was written by Guillaume de Lorris and Jean de Meun who sought to express the feelings of romantic love, sexuality, and chivalry.  Thought to be the most widely read book other than the Bible in the 13^th- and 14^th-centuries, it was highly influential on other authors including notably Geoffrey Chaucer.

This early 19^th-century edition was published in Paris beautifully bound in Moroccan leather. Edited by Dominique Meon.
