There are physics papers that suggest it's almost not possible to hit a baseball much farther than about 500 feet. The ball must be launched at the ideal trajectory--about 18 - 30 degrees, a baseball can only be pitched so fast (106 MPH is the record), and the fastest bat speed has only been measured up to about 120 MPH.  In the past 10 years only ONE homerun has been hit over 500 feet in Major League play.  It occurred on August 6, 2016 at Coors Field.  On this date, Giancarlo Stanton struck a mammoth shot 504 feet for his 23rd HR of the season.
Ichiro also got his 2999th hit during the game.

Years ago, I told Mr. Mint, in a moment of irrational exuberance, that I'd pay any price if he found them--I just wanted them.  His was response was "Hmmm, I like the sound of that." (But he never never found any.  Or if he did, he never sold them to me.  He was never nice to me on the phone or in person.  But I kind of liked that about him.  It was like dealing with P.T. Barnum)
