You are bidding on a significant piece of baseball history. A pair of 1954 Yankees game pants of Hall of Fame manager Casey Stengel. Please read the description carefully. Originally purchased from the Casey Stengel collection auction in 2005 from Heritage Auctions.

Their auction description read
Lot 19632
1954 Casey Stengel Game Worn New York Yankees Pants from the Casey Stengel collection. How often do you get a chance to own genuine Hall of Fame Yankee pinstriped flannel at a price you can afford? Important artifact dates from the calm eye of a storm that saw the Yankees win nine of ten consecutive American League pennants. Furthermore, we should note that an included letter of authenticity from the consignor states that she delivered the full uniform to the funeral home where Casey lay in state, and that the matching jersey was buried with Stengel. The same is true of the Mets pants also in this auction. These Yankees pants show even, consistent wear with "A.G. Spaulding & Bros. (size) 38" tagging inside the waistband with a washing instructions label to the left and "Set 1 1954" flap tag dangling below. Pants show none of the damage so often associated with decades-old flannel and display perfectly. LOA from MEARS

Below that is a notarized section signed by the consignor reading

My mother was Casey Stengel's caretaker in the final years of his life, and was left many of his possessions after his passing in 1975. Signed by Sandy Westrup.

It comes with an opinion letter from Lou Lampson reading
This representation is a pair of Casey Stengel N.Y. Yankees game used, home pinstripe flannel pants from the 1954 season.
The home white flannel with pinstripes now has a creamy off white hue due to aging, but still looks every bit the part of the early 50's Yankee Stadium lore.
The inner waistband is made of cotton/whipcord canvas and houses 3 labels plus a flap tag affixed to its lower horizontal seam
A.G. Spaulding & Bros (New York-Chicago) label
size 38 label
washing instructions label
set 1 1954 flap tag
All labeling was affixed in tandem, and there are no alterations. The leg bottoms are custom hemmed with wide non-elasticized openings.
From the Casey Stengel collection.
