This amazing poster is an enlarged, high-resolution reproduction print of a vintage ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO large letter souvenir linen-style postcard (c. 1930-1950)! Greetings!
Ever since souvenir picture postcards first made their debut at Chicago’s 1893 World’s Fair, one particular design style - the "Large Letter" postcard - has endured as a symbol of vintage travel. Large Letter postcards reached peak popularity from 1930-1950 (considered the "linen era" among postcard collectors). Prominent printers of that era include Curt Teich & Company of Chicago, Tichnor Brothers of Boston, and E.C. Kropp of Milwaukee. By 1956, Teich alone had over 1000 individual designs, with no location or city too small to feature. The souvenir postcards trumpeted the virtues of states, cities, military bases, and tourist attractions, including national and state parks.
