This pair of lovely pewter plates have been hanging on our walls for years. When purchased it was believed that this was a Jewish German family's Coat of Arms. In the center of the shield is a fleur d'lysse and swan. On the top of the shield is a sphere, a crown topped with 2 flags and a star of David in-between the flags. The initials on the rim are YMPM. The pewter stamp on the back of the plates is I.C. Grunewald. The date on his stamp is 1816. I.C. Grunewald stamped each plate 3 times. These 2 plates are inscribed on the back with number 25 and number 26. They were in a pewter collection of repute for many years and still bear these original descriptive labels. It measures 10" in circumference. The weight of each plate is approximately 1 pound. The maker is Johann Conrad Grunewald of Bayreuth, Germany. Guaranteed authentic and reasonably priced.
