The original Mikmar Training Bit was invented in the early 50's by Trainer Frank Evans. Evans created an all-around bit for everyday use by amateur riders and professionals that would put pressure on the most responsive pressure points while maintaining a soft, fresh mouth over time. In addition, the Mikmar Training Bit proved a great transition bit from a snaffle to a shank or leveraged bit.
