Freud - the invention of German songwriter and producer Ingo Hauss - with as much tenderness as elegance, exposes the sophisticated caverns of the mind and delivers a truly inspirational musical voyage that entices, caresses and soothes - all in equal measures.

'D-j Vu', the album's opening track, is a gorgeous, mellow, daintily provocative introduction to a delicate rose petal of an album. Cora O'Donovan's mystical voice is as enchanting as they come and is the perfect complement for the magical piano residing within this beautifully crafted piece.

It's perhaps with the title track, seven epic tales in, that a momentary mood swing darkens the tranquil fluency that has so far been defined by Freud. The evident emphasis on the bass section gives a hint of the sinister notation, but this is offset by O'Donovan's breezy vocal, which casts imaginary light from within the shadowy depths of the dark percussion. From the bed of electronic eeriness so ingeniously deployed by Freud, and that fuels the thought provocation so plentiful throughout, 'The Journey' rises and demystifies itself through the crystal clear vocals of O'Donovan and the dreamy lyrical input of fellow Freud vocalist Maria Sanchez.

The album's closing number, 'World of Wonders', is a catchy vocal-led piece, and again, through emotive musical imagery creates an absorbing pool of charm in which it is tempting to want to drown. You can't go far wrong with 'The Journey' for a sensuous session of idyllic musical tales to drift off on. And with it being that stressful time of year, it'd be well worth considering embarking upon Freud's inviting excursion, to any place you can possibly imagine.
