Pivotell Pill Boxes are a new type of dossette box with an innovative roller shutter system which makes opening them really easy, with no irritating compartment doors protruding, and the opening action is smooth for those who lack dexterity in their hands, due perhaps to arthritis or rheumatism.
Thanks to the transparent shutter and coloured base (red or blue), you can easily see if there are tablets in each compartment.
The day of the week MON / TUE / WED / THUR / FRI / SAT / SUN and dose number are printed clearly on the outside with additional easy to view icons for: Sun rise, Midday, Sun-down, Night.
The dose number 1,2,3,4 is also printed inside each compartment.
Each section has a volume of 7.5ml (12-14 tablets).
With compartments for 4 doses per day for 7 days

About Us

Pivotell Automatic Pill Dispensers and medication reminder aids are widely used by as a component of a care package for vulnerable patients who have difficulty managing their medication.

We have supplied both Social and Health Care teams throughout the UK since 2002, and studies have shown that the use of Pivotell dispensers results in better self-management of medication.

Medicines compliance can be particularly difficult for those with a complicated pill regime. Health professionals have been aware for many years that non-compliance can result in unnecessary ill health to the user and significant additional costs to health and social services.

The use of the Pivotell® Automatic Pill Dispenser:-

Can be a significant aid in improving the user’s quality of life enabling them to remain living independently at home.
Forms an important part of an overall 'home care package' enabling easy maintenance of the prescribed pill regime.
Enables self-medication and therefore avoids the need for carers (whether professional or family) to be present on each occasion that medication is due, and therefore could reduce social care costs.

How Pivotell came to be

January 2001

My mother, a sprightly 74 year old was diagnosed with Parkinsonism and Lewy Body dementia in 2000. Initially she managed very well with a weekly filled dosset box, taking her pills four times per day.

As with many chronic and degenerative illnesses there are many tablets to take, and there can be problems if they are either not taken or taken late. As time passed she became increasingly anxious and confused about when to take her next pills. She was confused about the time of day, and which section of the dosset box she should open next.

She began to telephone at all hours of the day and night to ask if it was time to take her next pills. Even though a care agency calls on her three times a day, they were not always able to be there at the exact time that the pills were due to be taken, which caused a number of panic attacks as she waited for them to arrive.

I began to worry about her overdosing. I found that pills were going missing from the dosset box. Several times she took her pills, had a nap, and woke up after an hour or so later and thought it was the next day, and so took the next morning's dose. I could see that if this continued she would have to go into care or would end up in hospital.

Everyone began to get very stressed. I have a full time job and cannot be with her four times a day, but I could not accept that just because her medication could not be delivered on time she would have to move into a care home.

Although Mum became confused about her pills I felt that she was still able, with a little help, to live in her own home. I needed a pill dispenser which I could fill, and lock and which would automatically dispense the correct dosage on time. I spoke to everyone I thought could help but to no avail. It took me a long time, but eventually I found a supplier who could provide exactly what I was looking for.

When Mum first started to use it I was not sure that she would recognise the alarm or know that she had to tilt the dispenser over to take the pills. It has never been a problem - she leaves it in the hall during the day, and takes it to the bedroom when she goes to bed. She has a bag to carry it in when she goes out to day-care. The staff at day care were delighted with the dispenser as many times she had dropped her dosset box and pills had spilt over the floor. I keep a spare internal cassette tray at my home and fill it up ready to replace her current tray once a week. Having all the pills at my home means that I can know when to order repeat prescriptions.

January 2005

For the time being Mum is still in her own home and maintaining independence. Although there are other problems associated with old age, Parkinsonism and dementia, pills are no longer an issue. The automatic pill dispenser has transformed both Mum's and my life over the last 4 years.

July 2006

Mum is no longer able to use the dispenser herself as she needs 24 hour care.

May 30th 2007

Mum died, the day before her 81st birthday.

Your right to cancel

You may cancel the contract for any reason upon giving notice to Pivotell within 30 days of receiving the goods. If you do cancel the contract within this time any payments made by you will be refunded in full (excluding p&p). You will be required to return to Pivotell any products sent to you under any contract you have cancelled in perfect condition, unused and in their original packaging.

Returns policy

If you are not satisfied with the goods you have chosen, please ensure that you return them to us within 30 days. Pivotell will be happy to make an exchange or refund the goods providing they are returned in perfect condition and in their original packaging.

Please get in touch with our customer services team for a Returns Form and send it with a copy of the invoice or delivery note and clearly state whether you would like a refund or exchange.

Please obtain a receipt of postage from the Post Office when you send the parcel back. Pivotell cannot be held responsible for goods lost in transit. Postage costs will only be refunded in the case of faulty goods.

Goods purchased online can be returned at any time within 30 days from the date of despatch for repayment or exchange.

Warranty

Should any malfunction of the product arise, you should in the first instance contact Pivotell for advice. In the event that the problem cannot be resolved, Pivotell undertake to repair or replace (at Pivotell's option) the product providing that malfunction is reported within twelve (12) months from the day of delivery.

Pivotell will accept no responsibility for faults arising from misuse (for example - dropping, water damage, foreign objects).

Fakes

Only Pivotell® Automatic Pill Dispensers carry the Pivotell logo.

Pivotell dispensers are made in Sweden. Look-alike dispensers made in China do not have the same technical or software development.

Since 2002 we have continually developed the features and settings of Pivotell dispensers to make a product which enables those with memory problems and confusion to live independently at home for longer.

Pivotell Automatic Pill Dispensers have achieved MHRA Medical Device registration: Class 1. They are robust and reliable and will give many years' service in normal use.

VAT Relief

How Do I Claim?

To claim VAT relief please complete the Tax Exemption Form on the Contact Uspage. Any orders purchased at the VAT exempt price cannot be dispatched without this form completed.

Qualifying Products

All products on our eBay Store that are specifically adapted to aid disability or for the chronically sick are eligible for VAT relief.

These products are only available at zero-rate VAT when purchased directly by an individual for their 'domestic or personal use'. In order for us to meet the obligations to Customs & Excise, and in order to avoid paying VAT on certain items, you will be required to complete a simple declaration form online that confirms that you are eligible to receive goods which are zero-rated.

Please note we are only able to exempt VAT from the actual goods, any delivery charges will attract VAT as normal.

Your final shopping cart price will include VAT for all items that are not eligible for relief.

Who is eligible?

The zero-rating of goods and services for a chronically sick or disabled person depends in part upon the status of the recipient.

It doesn’t include an elderly person who’s not disabled or chronically sick or any person who’s only temporarily disabled or incapacitated, such as with a broken limb.

If a parent, spouse or guardian acts on behalf of a ‘chronically sick or disabled’ person, your supply is treated as being made to that ‘chronically sick or disabled’ person.

You do not have to be registered disabled to claim relief from VAT, but the nature of your illness or disablement must be specified in your declaration.

A frail elderly person who is otherwise able-bodied or any person who is only temporarily disabled or incapacitated, such as with a broken limb does not qualify for VAT relief.

We will process your order at the retail price quoted on your order less the VAT element.

Completing your declaration.

You must be sure of your eligibility for VAT relief before completing the declaration. Section 39.2 of the VAT Act 1983 provides for severe penalties for anyone who makes use of a document which they know to be false for the purposes of obtaining VAT relief.
