Darkstar P90 Pickup Set Handwound in the UK

All P90s Supplied in Gibson 50mm Spacing, Soap-bar Format, but Dog-ears and 52mm Fender Spacing Available on Request

Scatter-wound in house to 9.8 and 10.6K with 43awg wire for the neck and bridge pickup respectively these modern hot Alnico 5 P90s have great clarity and definition. They are much more powerful and fatter and grittier than the Classic models and really drive an amp hard

These pickups sets are handcrafted to order in-house using traditional time tested materials and methods. Being individually wound to order, if you prefer, your set can be over or underwound to your own exact preference at no additional cost, just ask

All sets include mounting screws and springs (or tube if preferred) and Allparts covers in black or cream, featuring:
  • Pickup bobbins - Individually handbuilt with sand cast Alnico 5 bars - Alnico 2 & 3 available on request
  • Coil Winding - Individually hand wound with 43awg enamelled copper wire intentionally scattered randomly across the bobbin (scatter winding) thereby reducing capacitance interaction between winds producing superior detail, dynamics and the ultimate tone 
  • Coil Magnetising (Gaussing) - Hand magnetized using super strong Neodymium magnets, with polarity depending on whether noise cancelling is required  or not (in 2 or 3 pickup applications)
  • Hook up wires - Individually handwired with vintage 22 AWG, double insulated, pushback cloth covered hook up wire
  • Wax potting - Hand potted in pure beeswax which is softer at lower temperatures providing better protection for the delicate coil windings and removing unwanted resonances and minimising microphonic feedback at high volume settings (can be omitted by request)
