These pre-wired 12V red 0603 SMD LEDs come with a built-in resistor and soldered leads, so they wire directly to any 12V source with no additional components required — ideal for console mods, guitar pedals, and custom lighting builds where board space is tight.
Each LED runs at 12V forward voltage with 20mA current draw, emitting a red wavelength of 625nm through a clear diffuse lens with a 110° viewing angle and 100–150 mcd brightness. The 0603 (1608 metric) footprint is one of the most common SMD sizes in consumer electronics, and the approximately 15cm (6 inch) pre-soldered leads make retrofits and point-to-point wiring practical without a reflow station.
Common applications
- Xbox 360 Ring of Light: The Phat RF board uses five 0603 LEDs (four quadrant rings plus one center power); red is a popular replacement color for the stock green. The Slim and E variants use eight SMD LEDs across the same ring layout.
- Xbox One / One S / One X power button board: Confirmed 0603 footprint; stock is white, red is a common accent mod.
- DualShock 3 player indicator LEDs: Four 0603 indicators per controller; burnout from repeated charging cycles makes these a frequent repair part.
- Nintendo Wii faceplate and disc slot LEDs: Power and disc illumination LEDs are 0603; red gives a distinctive look against the white shell.
- Boss guitar pedals (2017+ SMD production runs): The DS-1, BD-2, SD-1, and OD-3 moved to SMD PCBs in Malaysian production; the indicator LED is 0603 range. Note that pre-2017 Boss pedals use through-hole LEDs — check your board revision before ordering.
- Corsair mechanical keyboards (K65, K70, K90): Per-key SMD lighting uses 0603 footprint; individual dead key lights are a common repair target rather than full board replacement.
Wiring & power notes
DC power recommended: LEDs are designed for DC. Running on AC will cause flickering and reduce lifespan. If using a low-voltage AC source (model railroad transformer, DCC track voltage), convert it to DC with a MB1S bridge rectifier plus a 100µF 50V electrolytic capacitor for clean, ripple-free output.
