Per the maker:"This next basket is specifically designed to serve as a bread basket. It is long and thin and just the right proportion to hold a loaf of French or Italian bread or a half dozen dinner rolls. You would put a napkin or cloth in the basket to wrap the bread to keep it warm, but also to keep crumbs from getting down in the groves. And with the cloth covering the basket you can fold the handle down and use it as a cutting board for the bread as well. These baskets are about 6.5 inches wide by about 18 inches long. "
