These 5630/5730 blue SMD LEDs hit a sweet spot for hobbyists and builders who need a compact, high-output surface-mount emitter in a true 462.5 nm blue — bright enough to be visible in ambient light, small enough to fit where through-hole components can't.

Each LED operates at a forward voltage of 3.0–3.4V and 20mA, delivering 25–35 lumens through a clear diffuse lens with a wide 120° viewing angle. The 5630/5730 footprint is notably larger than the 3528 or 5050 size, which means more surface contact for soldering and better thermal spread — a practical advantage when you're hand-placing components. Wavelength is 462.5 nm, squarely in the royal blue range rather than the violet end of the spectrum.

Wiring & power notes

DC power recommended: LEDs are designed for DC. Running on AC will cause flickering and reduce lifespan. If using a low-voltage AC source (model railroad transformer, DCC track voltage), convert it to DC with a MB1S bridge rectifier plus a 100µF 50V electrolytic capacitor for clean, ripple-free output.
