Commonly known as a figure-8 or shotgun connector due to the shape of its cross-section. It is also known as a euro-connector in electronic shops. A polarized C7 (C7-PW) used to exist, but is not part of the standard, it was asymmetrical, with one side rounded (live) and the other side squared off (neutral). The polarization features were badly designed, in that a C7-PW cord could not be plugged into a C8 inlet (merely inconvenient), while a C7 cord would fit into a C8-PW inlet without regard to polarization.

IEC-320 C8: standard figure-of-8 2-pin mains power inlet as found on cassette players, battery/mains operated radios, some full size audio-visual equipment, laptop computer power supplies, video game consoles like playstation2 and similar double-insulated appliances. Unpolarised C7 connectors can be inserted into polarized C8 inlets; however, doing so might be a safety risk if the device is designed to expect polarized power.

Ideal for creating your own bespoke power cables and devices that require up to 1.5 Amp ~ 250V and 3 Amp ~ 125V. This non-polarized power connector is designed to work with laptops, VCRs and other audio/video equipment that uses a 2-slot non-polarized power socket.

These are basic re-wireable figure 8 connectors. The cable entry is small (6mm wide x 3mm deep). We recommend that adhesive lined heat shrink is used over the connectors and cable once assembled to provide safety and durability.
