From the Front Flap: Joseph Green will be remembered as the author of Loafers of Refuge, a remarkable novel of an alien world and culture.

In this new volume of nine stories it is again his vivid imagination in creating a fictional world with a strong dependence on science that will attract the reader.

Among the wealth of ideas which he develops are:

....21st century students with artificially improved brains whose brilliance so far outruns their experience that violence results.

....a gestalt-minded community of seals which learn to control their own ecology.

....induced dreams of existence on an alien planet where hard-working dogs spend their lives at the behest of lazy cats.

....An ordeal by contest for the hand of an alien girl in which a spaceship officer under anaesthesia has to create in twenty-two hours, by mental imagery, a completely populated new world.
