This is the Flat Clamp Glare shield mount adapter for RAM mounts. If you already have a RAM mount, for example, for your iPad, Garmin 396 or 696 with a suction cup or yoke mount, this will add glareshield capability to what you already have.
It is compatible with any other RAM component that uses the 1" ball mount. Ideal for aircraft and marine use; clamps easily onto any reasonably flat surface up to 5/8" thick.
I've also seen them clamped to car windows and truck dashboards, for what that's worth.
We use RAM mounts for Garmin GPS receivers and iPads in our Washington, DC-based aircraft and they are the best mounts in the industry; rock-solid and with a lifetime limited factory warranty. They held up MUCH better than the factory mounts that came from Garmin (which I think are pretty much junk....but that's just me).
