Struck in the year Verus came home from the East. The titles crowded onto the obverse - ARMENIACVS, PARTHICVS MAXIMVS - are the campaign itself, written on the coin: Armenia retaken, Ctesiphon burned. And the reverse answers with Pax. The legions that returned with him also brought the plague that would empty the cities of the empire for a generation.
