A beautifully proportioned vintage sideboard by respected British maker Strongbow, comprehensively refinished in a rich custom-mixed damson plum, and ready for many more years of use.
When is comes to storage, this is a particularly lovely solution: long and elegant rather than heavy or boxy, with tall turned legs, a gently bowed front and plenty of space inside. At 169cm wide it has real presence, but the generous space beneath and those wonderfully leggy proportions keep it feeling surprisingly light.
The exterior has been hand painted in several coats of a custom-mixed mineral paint somewhere between deep damson, aubergine and plum. It is one of those gloriously difficult colours that changes with the light: in bright natural light the purple and damson tones come forward, while in lower or artificial light it can read almost black or as an extremely deep plum-navy. Inside, the cupboards have been finished in a custom-mixed muted earthy rose with warm clay undertones - a soft, chalky contrast to the darker exterior without becoming overly sweet or pink. Three elegant central drawers provide additional storage, with the top cutlery drawer lined in soft black velvet.
The original decorative ring-pull hardware has been carefully refurbished and retained, the warm aged brass finish working beautifully against the damson paint. The entire piece has been finished with several coats of professional-quality soft sheen varnish for added durability and longevity.
This versatile piece truly offers storage with style, and would be at home in any number of settings - we can picture it, of course, as a dining-room sideboard, but equally as a drinks cabinet, substantial living-room storage or a statement piece for the hallway.

Thanks for looking.
Note: I always try to give a fair assessment of the condition of items. All of my furniture and decor pieces are true vintage, and as such they will typically carry some scars, wrinkles, chips etc to show for their decades of being loved and used. Where there is more significant wear or marks which effect the overall look of the piece this will be mentioned specifically in the description and reflected in the price. Where pieces have been upcycled, refinished or painted, buyers can expect a good level of finish and carefully considered work using quality products and fittings, carried out by an experienced professional. That said, these items are revived by hand and as such will have more character than a new, mass produced, factory made product. Please take a good look at pictures, as these are part of our description, and don't hesitate to ask if you have a question.
